1.1 Definitions
Note that there is a definition of the words written in italics in paragraph 2.6.

1.2 Who is covered by the insurance?
The persons specified on the travel document. The individual person is hereinafter called “the insured”.

1.3 Period of insurance cover
When the insurance has been paid, cover takes effect from the date of purchase until departure. However, the policy may include an endorsement stating a different date of expiry.

1.4 When should the insurance be purchased?
The insurance should be purchased when the reservation is made and at the latest when payment of the deposit is made to the travel agent/airline.

1.5 The amount insured
The insured amounts specified in the policy, the participation document and/or the conditions state the limits of Europaeiske’s liability. Europaeiske’s liability for one incident of damage can never be more than DKK 1.000.000 regardless of whether the damage/injury involves one or more policies.

1.6 What does the insurance cover?
The insurance takes effect when the insured is not able to commence the journey or to carry out the purpose of the journey as the result of

  1. the death or sudden, acute illness/injury of the insured, his/her travelling companion or family. (A maximum of three insured persons can cancel with reference to one travelling companion.)
  2. the insured failing an examination or, as the result of acute illness, postponing an examination which is associated with a full-time, state-approved course on which the insured is enrolled, thus obliging the insured to sit a re-examination. It is a pre-condition that the journey was purchased before the examination and that the re-examination is held during the travel period or up to two weeks after planned return home.

1.7 Which expenses are covered by the insurance?
The insurance covers that part of the insured’s payment which the travel agent/airline is entitled to, when the journey is cancelled within the period of insurance – up to the maximum of the sum insured.

1.8 Exclusions/limitations
Exclusions:
The insurance coverage does not apply if the illness or injury was present when the insurance was taken out.

Limitations:
When the person who is the cause of the cancellation is 75 years of age or older, the company’s liability is limited to a maximum of DKK 20.000 per person, notwithstanding the sum insured is higher.

1.9 Cancellation of the journey
In every case of illness/injury, the insured must immediately and at the latest by the date of scheduled departure inform the travel agent/airline. There is no insurance coverage for cancellations made at a date later than the date of departure.

1.10 Conditions in case of illness/injury
